2018 Aglianico

Aglianico (alli-yaw-nico) is a rich, full-bodied red wine. The grapes are grown primarily in a Campania and Basilicata regions of Italy. After a period of decanting, the nose reveals blackberry, blueberry, cacao, and anise seed. Another swirl and some dried fig and white pepper notes emerge. At first sip, firm tannins coat the tongue along with plum, sour cherries, leather, cranberry and cinnamon notes, after which a long finish ensues. If given a long period of aging, this wine will develop elegantly into an experience worthy of good friends and a great meal.
