2020 Vino di Noce
Nocino di San Giovanni translates to "the potion of St. John the Baptist." San Giovanni is the patron saint of Florence, who is celebrated each year on June 24, near the summer solstice, when the days are longest and the nights are shortest. Legend has it that the unripe walnuts for this delicious liqueur must be picked after midnight on the eve of San Giovanni. Traditionally, each family has their own recipe, and ours includes roasted coffee bean, pink peppercorn, cardamom, and clove, along with other autumnal spices. It smells and tastes like "fall in a glass"!
